As it turns out, Israel decided to carry out its first attack against Syria since President Trump announced a US troop withdrawal from the country, on Christmas Day of all days. Just another unprovoked Israeli aggression against Syria via illegal violation of Lebanese airspace. Merry Christmas Syria, 16 missiles launched towards the Damascus airport with love from Israel, just the Zionist way of spreading peace on earth and goodwill to men I suppose.
Three Syrian soldiers were injured in the attack according to the Syria Arab News Agency (SANA) but thankfully there were no deaths. The attack was launched by six Israeli F-16s from Lebanese airspace, and the Syrian Air Defense Forces (SADF) managed to successfully intercept 14 of the 16 hostile missiles according to the Russian Defense Ministry. Israel has, as usual, not taken responsibility for the attack.
The S-300 was not employed, however the Russian training of the Syrian operators is on track to be completed by February at which point the advanced air defense batteries will become active under the control of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
The airstrikes were targeting ammo depots in the Damascus countryside near the international airport which allegedly belonged to Hezbollah or Iran, while the Damascus International Airport has been a common target of the Zionist entity in the past. This time there were civilian passenger airliners preparing to land at both the Beirut airport and the Damascus airport just as the Israeli warplanes flew into firing positions, with Israel's timing of the attack clearly intended to use these passenger jets as human shields, 21st Century Wire explains. The Russian Defense Ministry called out Israel's "provocative acts."
“Provocative acts by the Israeli Air Force endangered two passenger jets when six of their F-16s carried out airstrikes on Syria from Lebanese airspace," Russian MoD spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in an official statement on Wednesday.
Israel's plan worked. As a result of this reckless Israeli behavior, the SADF heavily restricted its response, RT reported, and did not deploy its surface-to-air missiles and electronic jamming against the F-16s “to prevent a tragedy,” and instead allowed Damascus air traffic control to divert one of its passenger flights to an emergency destination at Khmeimim (Russian airbase) in Latakia, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. It appears that Israel was betting on this to increase their chances of a successful attack without loss of attacking warplanes or that Syria would fall for the trap and possibly shoot down a civilian airliner which would have certainly given cause for Trump to reverse the US troop withdrawal.
It looks to be a similar Israeli operation to the September attack on Latakia in which Israeli jets used a Russian IL-20 spy-plane as cover, causing it to be shot down by the SADF and the loss of 15 Russian servicemen's lives. The Syrian army didn't fall for the trap this time, and this incredible Syrian restraint is likely what ultimately led to the two hits achieved and the three injured SAA soldiers. The sacrifice Syria made to protect civilian life which Israel intentionally put into harms way... There is surely no way Israel would have shown the same restraint in the same situation reversed!
As for the Israeli targets, Hezbollah and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has been destroying ISIS and al-Qaeda terrorists in Syria alongside the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Russian Air Force and Special Forces. They have been helping Syria to successfully crush the very terrorists which Israel and the US have supported time and time again throughout the 7-year war in their bid to topple the democratically elected and internationally recognized legitimate Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad. If there is any doubt as to whom these attacks benefit and whose side Israel is on in the fight against radical Islamic Jihadi terrorism, ISIS and al-Qaeda's consistent praising of Israeli attacks against Syria should clear up any confusion and clarify Israel's status as ISIS/al-Qaeda's acting air force in Syria.

According to a military source in Damascus, the U.S. Coalition bombed the Halbiyah-Zalbiyah Bridge that links the territories controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces and Syrian Arab Army in western Deir Ezzor.
The SAA had almost finished reconstruction of the bridge until it was destroyed by the US bombs, in a likely attempt to hinder the SAA from crossing over into the US/Kurdish-occupied side of the river.
The SAA on the same day, after reaching an agreement with the Kurds, deployed troops just west of the northern city of Manbij under Kurdish control, in preparation of taking immediate control of the city upon the US troop withdrawal, while there are at the same time already rumors of US troops withdrawing from the city, AMN has reported. This new agreement was reached due to Trump's previous announcement and also Turkish plans to launch an assault on Manbij, which will likely commence once US troops withdraw; and the Kurdish YPG/SDF likely came to the agreement with Damascus in order to protect themselves from possible annihilation by the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and Turkish-backed, former US-proxy Jihadist terrorist group, the Free Syrian Army (FSA) who are preparing for an imminent offensive.
The supposed total defeat of ISIS in Syria which has not yet occurred and so is clearly a blatant lie to distract the public from the real reason for US troop withdrawal, was nonetheless the stated reason for the US troop withdrawal in the first place. The real reason for the US troop withdrawal is obviously the result of a deal between the US and Turkey in order for Trump to salvage the US alliance with Turkey. It's all just a part of the show. Hopefully the new Syrian-Kurdish agreement will prevent Turkey from expanding it illegal occupation of Syria in Afrin further into the northeast territory currently occupied by the US-backed YPG/SDF and US forces.
I will finish off this post leaving you with the following videos which illuminate the real reasons behind the US 'troop withdrawal', which will almost certainly not be a 100% complete withdrawal, even if this turns out to be a legitimate withdrawal and not just more talk like earlier in March of this year.
